Emission or transmission of energy propagating through space or any other medium, in the form of waves of the electromagnetic field and consists of tiny elementary particles called photons that contains the quantum of the electromagnetic field. EMR consists of EM waves which are synchronized oscillations of electric field and magnetic field. In vacuum, EM waves travel at the speed of light and the oscillations of the two fields are perpendicular to each other and also perpendicular to the direction electromagnetic radiant energy and wave propagation. The wave propagation of EM wave are perpendicular to the synchronized oscillations of two perpendicular fields, that made an EM wave to form a transverse wave; which means a transverse wave is a moving wave whose oscillations are perpendicular to the direction of the propagation of the wave. The position of an electromagnetic wave within the electromagnetic spectrum can be characterized by either its frequency of its oscillation or its wavelength.
